From Mother Pippa 8.8.2023

Sunday is the last day of our collection of school supplies for the children of Family Promise. Thank you so much for shopping and donating to help them start school fully supplied.

Over the month of August we will collect a care basket for Matt Phillips. Please feel free to leave your cards and gifts in the basket in the back of the Narthex.

Our last summer movie is coming up on August 23. We will be watching “All Saints.” According to IMDB, “All Saints” is based on the inspiring true story of salesman-turned-pastor Michael Spurlock (John Corbett), the tiny church he was ordered to shut down, and a group of refugees from Southeast Asia. Together, they risked everything to plant seeds for a future that might just save them all. I hope you will join us in the Parish Hall at 9 a.m. for Morning Prayer or 9:30 for the movie.

The Annual Dousman Rummage Sale is coming up on August 26. Do you have items you’d like to clear out of your home? Bring, price and sell them between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. St. Mary’s will also be selling bottled water and root beer floats. If you are able to sit and sell for an hour or two, please sign up!

The last Wednesday of the month brings us together with Emmanuel UCC for our Homebrewed Faith discussion. This month we will meet on August 30 at 7 p.m. at Rosati’s in Oconomowoc to discuss Death & Dying. What does it mean to you to have a good death? Have you felt moved to plan for your last days or do you prefer to ignore them? What do theology and faith have to offer us as we contemplate the finiteness of our time on earth? I hope you will join us for our discussion this month.

I am leaving the worship leader sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in case anyone prefers to indicate written interest versus calling or emailing me. There is no barrier to help out, and I am happy to train you in whichever ministry (or ministries) you might feel called to. I am also still looking for people willing to share their stewardship reflections.

Finally, the circus is coming to Dousman on August 23. I hope you will consider going to the 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. show. I will be there collecting tickets.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
