Being in community with people is often a mixed bag – we are stronger together and can support each other at our best, but are able to tear one another to pieces at our worst. I was once again reminded of how very lucky I am to be at St. Mary’s – you are the best parts of community without any of the negatives. I sent out 22 emails this week to people who have signed up for new ministries – thank you! St. Mary’s is a vibrant community and it is your involvement that makes us shine.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and while I will pray for those who have mothered and do mother during the service, I wanted to share this prayer to Mother Mary:
Mary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, thank you for your “Yes” to the invitation of the angel which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God’s word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Amen.
