From Mother Pippa 3.16.2025

Thank you to everyone who voted in the service time survey. It was close, but starting April 6, we will be returning to 8 and 10 a.m. services. We will also begin offering a 6 p.m. service on Wednesdays, beginning March 12. Thank you!

Kathy and her team have completed the St. Mary’s Anniversary Book! Brava to Kathy and her team for all their hard work. Next it will go to be printed. Please stay tuned.
Kathy’s time has now opened up and she is putting together a new Messenger (newsletter). She’s planning to have one published for April, so please send her your article ideas, ministry news, family news, photos, book reviews and even your recipes so our first issue back is a good one. Kathy’s email can be found in our directory.

Join us for our monthly Bible Study this Sunday at 10 a.m. We’ll be studying the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew is one of the most organized of the Gospel writers, though, like Luke, he draws on much of Mark’s content. I will see you all in the Library after church.

Our next hike is scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. To join in the fun, please sign up in the parish hall. The location is to be determined, but Carol will let you know where if you sign up and tell her you are planning to come.

Wednesdays in Lent are all about formation. Wednesday mornings start with Morning Prayer and Eucharist in the Chapel at 9 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. we will be discussing Living Well Through Lent: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit in Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind. Wednesday evenings we will have communion in the Church at 6 p.m., followed by a soup supper at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Finally, our Lenten class is Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week by biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine. In this program, Levine shows us how the text raises ethical and spiritual questions for the reader, and how we all face risk in our Christian experience. I hope you will join us on Wednesdays.

During Holy Week we have a new offering: an Agape Meal. The Agape Meal, also known as the Love Feast, is a meal of Christian fellowship with ancient roots. We will have an Agape Meal on Maundy Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This simple meal will be preceded by footwashing, will include a reading from John’s Gospel, as well as blessings over the bread, wine and other food. All are welcome, but please sign up so we know to expect you. Our Maundy Thursday service will start at 7 p.m. in the church as usual.

Finally, mark your calendars, Father Ryan’s Celebration New Ministry is scheduled for May 21 at 6 p.m. On this day, Father Ryan will be installed as the new rector of Holy Communion, Lake Geneva. As the date draws closer we will have a carpool sign up for those who wish to attend.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
