As news continues in about the devastation left by Hurricane Helene, we have an opportunity to help in a tangible way. Parishioner Carol C left Wisconsin this week to drive to North Carolina to help distribute much needed supplies. We are collecting money to help get her there, as well as support her purchasing work on the ground. Carol will be working with Samaritan’s Purse to direct her efforts to help sort supplies and get them transported to where they are needed most. If you’d like to help, please direct your funds to “Hurricane Relief” and we will make sure those funds get to Carol. Thank you!
We have a number of sign up sheets in the Parish Hall. I hope you will consider signing up for one or more of them.
- Adopt a Highway (October 19) – Our last highway cleanup of the year. We will meet at the Sawyer Road Park N Ride at 9 a.m. and pick up trash before the winter snow fall. Some people pick up trash in the Park N Ride itself, while others walk east on Delafield Road. If you are able to join us for an hour or two, many hands will make quick work of the mess.
- Bingo (October 19) – Our first Bingo of the program year is coming up quickly. Your Community Life Team is providing the main dish and dessert, but sides and salads are very welcome. Please make sure that you don’t bring any fish or shellfish. Invite your family, friends and neighbors, but please sign up so Community Life knows how much food we need.
- Halloween on Main (October 26) – I still need five more volunteers: three to help serve chili and four to help serve root beer floats. If you are able to help for a one-hour shift, I would be very grateful. Then you can hang around, try other people’s chilies and then vote for ours (because it is clearly the best!)
- Welcome Committee – Dousman is experiencing a housing boom. Between Three Pillars and the Talbot Woods development, hundreds of new people will be moving into Dousman next year. Let’s have a solid plan for how to welcome them to the neighborhood, and invite them to worship at St. Mary’s. I hear people wishing that we could continue to grow, and I know we can. Reaching out to our new neighbors is a great way to start.
- Movie Night (November 2) – The next installment of our movie night is coming up in November. The movie is likely to be Mary Poppins, but stay tuned in case that changes. Please bring a dish to share (but no fish or shellfish!)
Thank you for all your care and support. Our winter clothing collection continues through the end of this month, as does our collection for our college student care packages.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
