From Mother Pippa 7.26.2026

We have a new postulant at St. Mary’s! Jordan Robinson Delaney has discerned a call to the diaconate, and St. Mary’s is her lucky sponsoring congregation. Starting this week, we will pray for Jordan each week, and we will see her around more often as she continues her process.

It’s the 71st Annual Dousman Derby Days this weekend. I hope you will stop by Cory Park to buy a float or ice cream sundae from St. Mary’s! Derby Days runs from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26. The parade is Sunday, July 26 at 11 a.m.

On a sadder note, the funeral service for Darin Schultz, Donna’s son, will be on Friday, July 31 at 3 p.m. The visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Following the service you are invited to a cookie and coffee reception at St. Mary’s, followed by a reception at Dousman House.

Mark your calendars, on Sunday, August 2, we are welcoming Canon Scott Leannah as our guest preacher! It will be a potluck Sunday for Coffee Hour, so be sure to bring his favorites (but no fish or shellfish).

We are all invited to celebrate Karen’s 90th birthday on August 5 at Three Pillars. While it is the day after her birthday, that won’t stop us from celebrating with cake and fun from 2-4 p.m. in the community room. Please bring yourself, but no gifts.

Our first ever Kids’ Day is coming up on August 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Are you interested in getting involved? Please let me know.

St. Mary’s is hosting an in-person training for Safe Church on Saturday, August 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All clergy and lay leaders are required to take Safe Church every three years. You can sign up online, or you can come to this in-person training. Lay leaders who need Safe Church include: lay employees, vestry members, ministry team members (altar guild, ushers), Sunday School teachers, and lay eucharistic visitors.

Finally, I want to make a correction: the Dousman Rummage Sale is on August 29. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you’d like to participate.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
