Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make Strawberry Fest such a success! Our preliminary numbers show that we raised $11,300 to be split between the Haiti Partnership and St. Mary’s. No one fainted or suffered from heat exhaustion. Bravo!!!
The Annual Meeting is coming up fast. It’s Sunday, September 7. We’ll have one service at 9 a.m., followed by a potluck and the Annual Meeting. Therefore, it is also time to start asking for Vestry nominations. The vestry is an elected governing body that acts as the legal and financial body of the parish. Vestry members are elected at the Annual Meeting and serve for two years. If you are interested in serving on the Vestry or nominating someone for the Vestry, please speak to me, Diane Olsen, or John Wolf, or any Vestry member by August 15.
We will also elect Diocesan Delegates at the Annual Meeting. We need three lay representatives, who attend Diocesan Convention each year (generally a Saturday in October). The position is a one year term
Finally, it is not an elected position, but Stewardship is coming up as well. We will present a draft budget at the Annual Meeting, and then we will have our Stewardship Drive to try to fund that budget. The way we use our money, our time, our talent and our life expresses our faith. If you are interested in joining this team, please let me know. We’ll start meeting in September to plan for a Pledge Sunday sometime in October.
