Happy Pentecost! Pentecost is the five major feast of the church year, and it is acknowledged as the beginning of the church. We celebrate with one service at 9 a.m. – bringing together all the folks of St. Mary’s as we mark the beginning of the church in the world. We will read Acts 2 in a variety of languages – recreating the miracle of having people hear the good news in their own language. I invite you to wear red for Pentecost – red for the Holy Spirit and for the fire on the heads of the apostles.
Following the service, we are having an all-parish potluck! Please bring a dish to share (but no fish or shellfish please!)
Sunday afternoon we will have our first fellowship hike of the season. Please signup or let Carol know that you’d like to join in.
Thank you to everyone who cleaned windows last Sunday! It makes such a difference to see through shiny windows – the whole church sparkles and fills with light. Thank you!
This Sunday is your last chance to sign up for the church picnic at Emmanuel UCC on May 31. We will have service at 8 a.m. at St. Mary’s, but will go to Emmanuel at 9:30 a.m. for their service and stay for their church picnic. I hope you will join us.
If you’d like to come to the Dockhounds game on June 23, please sign up this Sunday or next. Tickets are $55 each and include indoor seating, a wonderful buffet and two drink tickets as well as the baseball game itself. I plan to be there, and I hope you will come too!
