It’s wonderful to be back! I was at home for a couple days before going up to Steven’s Point for Convention. I’ve been in Wisconsin for six years now, and it’s such a delight to see familiar faces and learn how other churches are reaching out in service, formation and fellowship. I plan to shamelessly steal all the best ideas and try them out at St. Mary’s!
The Dousman Chamber of Commerce is offering a Scam Seminar at the Lions’ Club on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome, and I hope you’ll consider joining us. The presenters will be Chief Mike from Summit Police, David from Edward Jones and Jessica from Westbury Bank. Their goal is to share some common scams, and to give you ideas of what to look for, and how to slow down and think things through. Scammers try to make you panic – because if you are anxious you won’t poke holes in their stories. I know at St. Mary’s many people get texts from “me” asking for gift cards, and Lynn has also received emails from “me” asking to change my direct deposit information. There is always time to ask questions, and I hope you’ll join us to learn the current scammer tactics.
On a happier note, I hope you will sign up to participate in Halloween on Main! This event is coming up October 25 and St. Mary’s is having a bake sale! If you are able to bake or sell, please sign up in the Parish Hall. I have a frog cookie cutter that I can’t wait to use! You might also make some Halloween-themed goodies or perhaps fall cookies or pie. Please have the treats wrapped to sell (if you bring pie, please have it in a tin that can go home with the customers). Thank you!
