From Mother Pippa
We are now at the end of Lectionary Year C, because next Sunday (November 30) is the first Sunday of Advent. As we wind up November, I want to thank everyone for their generosity in bringing in food and donations for the Thanksgiving Groceries and Kettle Moraine Food Pantry.
This Sunday, November 23 is the lighting of the church! Stay after service to put up Christmas lights! Mary-Beth will lead the team to put lights, wreaths and snowflakes outside. We could particularly use someone to steady the ladders, help with the extension cords and hang the lights. All help is appreciated. These cheerful spots of light in darkness will be a tangible sign of Advent.
On Thursday, November 27 at 9 a.m., we will have our Thanksgiving Service with Holy Eucharist (which itself means giving thanks). We will meet in the Chapel and then go off to cook, watch sports and eat!
Invite your neighbors and friends. On December 7, after the 10 a.m. service, we will have Advent Crafts in the Parish Hall. Prepare your heart and home for Advent with these fun crafts, led by Holly and Megan!
During Advent we will be collecting gifts for the youth at Lad Lake, as well as for the children of Mary’s Room. Mary’s Room at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Watertown serves families with young children (0 to age 5). Specifically, Mary’s Room is dedicated to fostering the well-being of infants and young children through facilitating the donation, collection, and distribution of furniture, clothing, diapers, and other basic items for children to families while assisting them to achieve economic independence. Please bring your items to church by Sunday, December 21.
Finally, please join us December 3 in the Chapel for Advent Reflections on “Practicing Generosity” with all your heart, soul, strength and mind. Booklets are available on the table in the church narthex. It has great daily readings and questions that explore your faith during this Advent season.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
