Sunday is the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost, but it is also the Dousman Derby Days parade. As such, while 8 a.m. will be a complete service, the 10 a.m. will be abridged. We need to be at the parade starting point by 10:30 a.m., so we will have readings, prayers, and then communion from the reserve. If you would like to walk in the parade, you can park at the Dousman Middle School and take a shuttle to the parade line. We are number 27 in the parade. Please wear your St. Mary’s t-shirt.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the Saturday prairie clean up! Do you know that prairies help avert climate change? Prairies are carbon sinks, meaning that they absorb an immense amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, cleaning the air, improving water quality, and therefore contribute to climate stability. Thank you for helping to maintain and enhance the beauty of St. Mary’s!
A church community can be an opportunity to try out and a variety of ministry opportunities. Please consider the following:
Choir – Our choir practices on Thursday evenings during the program year and sings once or twice a month. Our Music Direction, Carrie Arndorfer, works with singers of all levels, you need only to enjoy singing to join the choir. Carrie will work with you to build your confidence and skill in leading worship through song.
Adopt a Highway – Three times a year we pick up trash along a one-and-a-half-mile stretch of Delafield Road. The coordinator picks up more trash bags as needed, and contacts the highway program to let them know when to pick up the filled trash bags. If you might be willing to organize this ministry, please let me know.
Gathering – Three times a year we serve lunch at the Gathering meal program. The coordinator picks three Saturdays for St. Mary’s to serve and lets the office know when we need to recruit volunteers. I have the contact information for the Gathering if you are interested in organizing this event.
Thank you so much for your engagement and support. When I was counting volunteers for Strawberry Fest, I noticed that nearly the entire congregation had been involved in some way – that’s incredible. This is such a committed and active congregation, and it is a delight to serve with you all.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
