From Mother Pippa 11.25.2024

Happy Advent! I love the beginning of the church year as we light candles and prepare for the incarnation. For me it has always been a time of optimism, hope and determination.

This Sunday is Father Ryan’s last Sunday at St. Mary’s. I hope you will join us for the service at 9 AM and the coffee hour afterwards. We will send him to Holy Communion with all our good wishes and blessings.

I would like to get your feedback on our monthly 9 AM service. In particular, please fill out a survey on Sunday or email me to tell me if:

  • You love it and want a combined 9 AM service every week
  • You like having combined 9 AM service once a month
  • You like having 9 AM combined service on special occasions (Pentecost, Kick Off Sunday, Stewardship Sunday, etc.)
  • You prefer we have service at 8 AM and 10 AM every Sunday
  • Other

With the beginning of Advent we are also collecting gifts for the youth at Lad Lake. For those who are not familiar, “Lad Lake serves as the emergency room of the child welfare system. Most times, youth enter our facilities at their most vulnerable – whether they are suffering from abuse and neglect, battling addiction or have aged out of the foster care system. Furthermore, 95% of the youth in Lad Lake’s care come from a family in crisis unable to support them as they wish; most suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other serious anxiety disorders.”
We have a list of gifts that will help brighten their Christmas holidays.

Saturday, December 7 we have a fellowship hike. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you plan to attend.

Join us December 11 at 6:30 p.m. to cut out snowflakes! We have templates and materials (though glue guns and extra scissors would be appreciated.) This is a craft that everyone can manage and we will have a ton of fun. Please sign up if you’re planning to join us so we can have enough paper bags. Thank you to Carol for leading this fun craft night!

Other upcoming events include:
Christmas Caroling – December 21 at 2:30 p.m.
No Rehearsal Christmas Pageant – December 22 at 10 a.m.
Please invite your family and friends.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
