Sunday is the first day after Daylight Saving Time. Did you remember to set your clock back an hour? Or are you reading this as you wait an hour for church to start? I hope you enjoy the extra hour of sleep.
All Saints’ Evensong is this Sunday at 5 p.m. in the Chapel. Join us for this sung Evening Prayer as we commemorate the saints of God – living and dead. At the same time, we recognize that we too are saints of God, and renew our commitment to live out that identity. I hope you will bring an icon of a saint that inspires you or resonates with you. I printed out an image of my favorite saint with a quote underneath to bring to Evensong.
The week of November 7-12 I will on vacation. Lynn will be available in the office, and if you have any pastoral needs you can call Deacon Chuck. I will be back on Sunday, November 13 to celebrate Pentecost XXIII and Veteran’s Day.
One thing I will be doing while on vacation is working the polls in Waukesha. Election Day is November 8, please vote! As one of the volunteers who help verify identities and assign ballots, I hope you will come out and vote for our representatives in Wisconsin. It is incredibly important, and then we can all breathe a sigh of relief, knowing it is the end of all those campaign ads.
We have two exciting events on Saturday, November 19. In the morning, at 9 a.m., we will welcome children from the community to prepare for Advent. In partnership with Emmanuel UCC, we are preparing various crafts including: God’s Eyes, Snowmen Ornaments, Wooden Cutouts, Cookie Decorating and more. If you are able to help volunteer and oversee a craft, please sign up in the Parish Hall.
Our second event on November 19 is Bingo! Sign up, bring a friend, and compete for candy and glory from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by dinner.
On November 13 and 20 we will be collecting funds to purchase food for local families’ Thanksgiving dinners. If you are able to contribute, please place your donations in the marked box in the Narthex. On November 20, we will go shopping for three families in the Dousman area. Any additional funds will go on to gift cards purchased for the families. I thank you in advance for your generosity.
Prayers and blessings,
Mother Pippa
