OUTDOOR DRIVE-IN EUCHARIST
OUTDOOR DRIVE-IN EUCHARIST:
Until we are able to gather again in-person for indoor Eucharist, we will be holding a drive-in eucharist service each week at 10 a.m. We will still have the online service at 8:00 a.m. and Adult Education class at 9:10 a.m.
People will be able to drive in, receive a bulletin, park, then tune-in to Channel 97.9 and listen to the service over their radio. The conditional diocesan approval to hold drive-in eucharist is based on participants not leaving their vehicles and no “open” vehicles being allowed (convertibles with tops down, motorcycles, or bicycles). Please refer to Returning to Public Worship Guidelines #6.e and the CDC government website Screening for Symptoms for COVID-19 to help in your decision making in returning to service.
Because you will be in your car, you will have many of the advantages of a pre-COVID service. You will not need to wear a mask and you can join in singing with the hymns because you will be in your car. During communion Mother Pippa will go from car to car with consecrated wafers (and lots and lots of hand sanitizer) and pass out communion through people’s car windows. Additionally, you will have the added advantage of being able to sip coffee and munch on snacks during the service if you feel like bringing some with you.
We will have drive-in service each week through the end of November. At that point, we will evaluate how it’s going, and we will look at weather and attendance to determine whether we will continue with it. We are very excited about this opportunity to worship together and we hope to see many of you there.
