From Mother Pippa 9.3.2019

This Sunday marks the beginning of the program year. Both services will have instruction about the history and theology of our worship service in place of a sermon. In addition, a great many groups resume meeting and I hope you will take advantage of the wonderful offerings including:

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: For children ages 3-8. Drop your kids off in the Nursery by 10 a.m. where they will hear a Bible story and complete a related craft. Children can join their parents for Eucharist if they would like.

Adult Formation: For all interested. Join us in the Library at 9 a.m. to read and discuss Shalom for the Heart, led by Carol M. and Sally W. These devotions are inspired by readings from the Old Testament and are intended to help you find the sacred in your life.

Youth Group: For youth grades 5-12. Once a month, following the 10 a.m. service, the youth will gather, eat, and then go off to volunteer or have fellowship together. Upcoming meetings include: September 8, October 6, November 17, and December 1.

Contemplative Prayer: Join us Tuesdays at 4 p.m. in the Chapel as we meditate to quiet our mental voices so that we can connect with the quiet voice of God within each of us. We’ll explore different ways to find that still, open space, including: centering prayer, lectio divina, welcoming prayer and mindfulness.

Book Group: Wednesday mornings always begin with Morning Prayer and Eucharist at 9 a.m., but starting this week the service will be followed by a book group. Join us September 11 to select our first book, which we will then read together. Please keep your eye out for an upcoming survey about adult education opportunities at St. Mary’s, particularly if your spiritual hunger is not being currently fed.

Fall Fest is fast approaching and there are five sign ups in the Parish Hall to help people get involved with everything from pie baking to clean up. On the other bulletin board are signups for: Dinner with Friends and Strangers; Confirmation Class; and sitting down with Mother Pippa. Please sign up!

Prayers and blessings,

Mother Pippa
