It is difficult to believe we are already looking at the last Sunday in August, I hope you have enjoyed your summer, I know that I have!
This Sunday is the last week to donate food for the Kettle Moraine Food Pantry, let’s finish strong! Thank you to everyone who has donated food or money to the pantry, as well as to everyone who has taken the food over to the pantry. I don’t know exactly how many pounds we’ve donated, but I know that the cart has needed to be emptied each week.
Join us at 10 a.m. this Sunday for Eden Elizabeth Stangler’s baptism. As we welcome our newest member, we are reminded of the promises that we made (or that were made for us in baptism). As I mentioned on Sunday, the Bishop will be here December 8. If you are interested in Confirmation (a mature commitment to the Christian faith), Reception (being formally received into the Episcopal faith) or Reaffirmation (renewing your baptismal vows in front of the Bishop), please let me know. There is a sign-up sheet posted in the Parish Hall.
We are attempting to be more deliberate in capturing images of St. Mary’s events to post in the bulletin and on facebook. If you are willing to be on a list of people who are contacted before an event to ask for photos, please let me know. The hope is that when we have something special, like Sunday’s baptism, we could email a list of people to see if they could take some photos. That way you would know to bring a camera if you’ll be there, or to let us know if you won’t be around. Together I think we can make this work!
Dinner with Friends & Strangers is starting up this fall. You may be familiar with Dinner with Friends, but Community Life has tweaked the name to recognize that these groups are opportunities to meet new people as well as have fellowship with current friends. These small groups would gather four times a year or so to have dinner (or lunch, or brunch, or elevensies). While Coffee Hour provides opportunity for fellowship, these groups give you time to be more intentional in getting to know your fellow parishioners. The concept is to have rotating group members host dinner (or lunch). The host provides a main dish in a welcoming, Christian environment. Those invited will bring a dish to share. Each group will decide the time/date that works best for them, but we encourage a commitment to quarterly events, starting this Fall. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you’d like to be a part of one of these groups. Please contact Mother Pippa or the Community Life Team if you have any questions about this wonderful fellowship opportunity.
Prayers and Blessings,
