Thank you to everyone who wore blue last Sunday and brought a variety of creative, blue, round and herb-infused goodies. We really celebrated St. Mary’s day with great humor and joy! It was a great party and I want to thank everyone involved, with special thanks to the Community Life team.
This Sunday is our final Outdoor Service for the year (weather permitting). Our 8 a.m. service will be inside, but 10 a.m. will be outside (weather permitting), so bring a chair, a hat and some sunscreen. Thank you to Tom Arndorfer for doing some research so we now have a portable microphone to hopefully help people hear the readings and the sermon.
On August 25 I am very excited to announce that we will baptize Eden S. at the 10 a.m. service. Whether you attend 8 a.m. or 10 a.m., we will renew our baptismal promises and pray for Eden, but if you come to 10 a.m. you will also get to see the baby.
Last week your Building Team met with a consultant to help us work with the congregation to get feedback and input on the proposed plans. Keep a watch on your mailboxes, we hope to have those booklets (including a short survey) available in September. These booklets will include the conceptual plans as well as more details about the team’s perceptions of the needs of the parish as we continue to grow and serve God. If the parish agrees, we hope to go forward with the plans as part of our 150 anniversary of building the chapel, or our Sesquicentennial. The hope is that we will look back on our past in joy and gratitude as we begin to discern where God is calling the congregation both now and into the future. Stay tuned!
Finally, I want to let you know that we have an Instructed Eucharist scheduled for September 8. For those of you who are unfamiliar, an Instructed Eucharist is a service where instead of having a sermon, the priest explains the service as we go along. Why do we worship in this order? How are the readings chosen? Why do the colors on the altar change? If you have any particular questions you would like answer, please let me know. I might not answer all of them September 8, but if you let me know the questions, I can at least start hunting for the answers.
Prayers and blessings,
