Tammy Prather grew up a competitive swimmer in Illinois where she was raised and educated in the Roman Catholic Church. Drawn to Anglicanism during college at ISU, she received her Bachelors Degree in Social Science and met her husband there. Over the last two decades her passion for missions and education has taken her all over the globe. Tammy began studying the art and spiritual discipline of Icon Writing in 2008. Her first professional position was as a Social Worker but soon after seeking an opportunity to develop her business acumen, she launched a multi-venue catering business. Upon moving back to Chicagoland in early 2002, Tammy was invited onto the staff of Church of Resurrection, Wheaton as Director of Childrenʼs and Family Ministry. After years of helping others plant Anglican churches Tammy and her husband, Fr. Joel Prather, attended seminary and began planting Church of the Savior in Allen, TX in 2010 for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. As Executive Minister, Tammy spent four years implementing strategies that grew the church from 3 to just under 100 members. One ministry Tammy is especially passionate about is education. She has educated in a variety of venues: creating Church curriculum for adults and children, developing a three year classical educatorʼs curriculum in World History. She has lead workshops and retreats on spiritual disciplines, inner healing and personality systems as a tool for organizational and personal maturity. She trained as a Spiritual Director through Spiritual Ministries International and completed her Masterʼs in Theological Studies at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. Tammy enjoys travel, watching BBC Dramas, following politics, eating “paleo”, swimming, reading theology, ethnic cuisine, NPR, and classically educating her sweet son Jude.
