The Rev. Mark Rutenbar

Charles Mark Rutenbar values his heritage as a “cradle Episcopalian.”  He grew up as the son of an Episcopal priest and is married to one.  He has served as a parish priest for 38 years, having served parishes in Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee until he retired in 2014.  He was active in diocesan leadership and represented two dioceses at four General Conventions  He continues to serve as a supply priest in the Dioceses of Eastern and Western Michigan where he resides with LaRae and their dog, Abbey, in Presque Isle  (“almost an island”) in the northeastern  part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.  His passion in ministry is as a pastor and enabling the people of God to claim their own ministries.  Mark is the father of two adult children:  Michael who lives in East Troy, Wisconsin and Libby who resides in Denver, Colorado.  He and LaRae are expecting their first grandchild in September and look forward to sharing this new adventure with his son and daughter-in-law in Wisconsin.  In his spare time, Mark enjoys golf, fishing, baseball, lighthouses, and walks in the woods.
