The Rev. LaRae Rutenbar

LaRae is originally from Billings, Montana where she received a B.S. in Psychology at Rocky Mountain College.  She received her M.Div from Virginia Theological Seminary and is, also, where she met her husband, Mark. Ordained a priest for thirty six years LaRae has served as chaplain, parish priest and professional interim.  She retired in 2016 and still serves the church as a parish consultant working with parishes in areas of parish dynamics, crises intervention and reconciliation.  Her particular interests are in preaching, community building and healing ministries.

LaRae and Mark have two children.  Michael is the director and coordinator of Outdoor Education for Camp Edwards in Troy, WI. He is married to Katie (Barbour) and they are expecting their first child (and their first grandchild) in September. Michael and Katie’s dog, Addie, is anxiously awaiting the birth of this new ‘puppy.’

Libby lives in Arvada, CO (suburb of Denver) with a company that helps to   furnish major hotel chains.  She lives with her cat, Louis and her dog, Gabby.  In addition, Mark and LaRae have their dog, Abbey, who is a mix of many different breeds.  Most noticeable is the basset hound, which gives her short stubby legs and the Keeshond, which gives her a collar full of hair and a deep bark.

LaRae has many interests.  She enjoys playing golf, playing a tile game called Mahjong, cross-country skiing, kayaking, creative projects and is most often found outdoors when she gets the chance.
