Happy Second Sunday of Advent! This week we traditionally focus on the theme of peace (first week’s theme is hope, third week is joy and fourth week is love). This week is also frequently associated with John the Baptist and his prophecy of Jesus’ arrival. Coincidentally, this Sunday is also the feast of St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, who is perhaps better known as St. Nick, or Santa Claus.
Sunday at 2:30 p.m. is the Zoom memorial service for Janine Voruz. You can RSVP for the service at: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_0NrsZPtyQ5iSsTugWUzTfg
As we move into Advent, I want to complement you all on our excellent attendance! We have over 50 people who join us each week for our online service, and between 35 to 40 who drive to church and listen to service on their radio. It is so wonderful to see so many familiar faces, as well as some new ones on Sunday. Indeed, we ran out of bulletins on November 22 and had a 40% increase at our Thanksgiving service this year.
Donations for Lad Lake are due by December 15, so you only have two more Sundays to drop off gifts or monetary donations to support the kids at Lad Lake. Names for the Christmas Memorial and Thanksgiving List are due by December 17. Please send your memorials and thanksgivings to Lynn.
Finally, mark your calendar, we have Christmas Services coming up. The St. Mary’s Lessons and Carols will be on Sunday, December 20 at the 10 a.m. drive-in service. We will have a Zoom Pageant on December 24 at 4 p.m. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Nativity character, whether that is Mary and Joseph, one of the shepherds or kings, the livestock – cows, sheep, donkey and camel, or one of the angels. We will post the online Christmas Eve service on December 24 in the evening, and we will welcome people to a drive-in service on Christmas Day at 10 a.m.
Prayers and Blessings,
