Thank you to everyone who helped on Sunday with lighting the church and assembling care packages for our college kids! Mary-Beth and her team did an amazing job lighting the church, and Lindsey and her team sent off eleven care packages to St. Mary’s youth in college.
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent, the beginning of the church year. St. Mary’s will post a daily message on YouTube and Facebook with a story, a reflection or a carol each day. I hope you enjoy this online “Advent Calendar” as we prepare for the Incarnation.
Of course, there are many other resources for Advent reflection and preparation, including an offering from the Diocese. You can access either the pdf of the whole set or sign up for daily emails at: https://www.diomil.org/news-messages/daily-advent-reflections-available/
We continue to collect gifts and donations for the kids at Lad Lake, thank you to everyone who has purchased a gift or donated to support this program. We have a long relationship with Lad Lake, and I am so happy that we are able to help make Christmas for them yet again, even under more challenging circumstances.
In lieu of Christmas flower donations, this year, we will be collecting names for the Christmas In Memory and In Thanksgiving list. If you have memorials or thanksgivings you would like to be included in the Christmas Eve bulletin, please email them to Lynn.
Finally, I do want to let you know that on Advent III, December 13, our services will include the Prayers of the People from the Longest Night service as we acknowledge the challenges and grief of the holiday season as well as the light and hope of Advent. May you find light and hope this season as we prepare for the coming great Light of our lives.
Prayers and Blessings,
