The Annual Meeting is this Sunday! We will gather in the Parish Hall at 11 a.m. for a potluck, followed by the Annual Meeting itself. While we will still vote on Vestry members and approve the budget, the majority of the time will be focused on the propose building project. Our two architects will be joining us and so will our capital campaign advisor.
The Annual Meeting is often the time that we distribute new parish directories, but before we do that, we want to make sure the information is accurate. We will have two directories that we’ll pass around on Sunday. Please check to make sure your information is correct. Additionally, if you feel your photo is out of date, please make a check mark next to it, and send us a new photo. Finally, the copies on Sunday will include people’s month and day of birth. We will not print birthdates in the directory. However, we do send people birthday cards, and if we don’t have your birthdate, we can’t send you a card. If your birthdate is not listed, please add it in!
I have had two or three people tell me that the building project is moving quite quickly and they worry that not all the voices are being heard. On Sunday there will be sign-up sheets for attending a series of focus groups about the building. This will be a time for people to share their thoughts/ideas/questions with a smaller group. I truly see the building project as a wonderful victory for St. Mary’s, but that will only be the case if we all go forward together. If you have any questions or concerns, please come to one of the focus groups, or talk to me or a member of the design team.
Finally, I would like to encourage anyone who is able to join the Book Group on Wednesday mornings to do so. We are reading Barbara Brown Taylor’s Home by Another Way, which is a set of sermons she has preached. They are beautiful and thought-provoking, and I am thoroughly enjoying them. We meet Wednesdays at 9 a.m. for Morning Prayer and Eucharist, and book group often begins at 9:30 a.m. We wrap up at 10:30 or 11 a.m.
Prayers and blessings,
