We continue in our busy Advent season with a Building Presentation following both services this Sunday. There will be an additional meeting Tuesday, December 17 at 6 p.m. covering this information. The Design Team read people’s comments and suggestions and worked with the architect to incorporate common themes. In addition to blueprints and views of the 3D rendering, we will also have a virtual walk-through. While the walk-through will be gray-scale, it should give people a better sense of the feel for the space.
Sunday is also your last chance to bring in presents for the youth at Lad Lake. If you are unable to shop, you can also donate money towards the Christmas presents, and the Outreach Team will shop for you. The Christmas flower donation forms are also due on Sunday.
Sunday evening is our Longest Night service at 7 p.m. Longest Night, or Blue Christmas is a service that is designed to be a quieter, more introspective and grief-friendly worship experience than some of the more joyful Christmas celebrations. Whether you are grieving a death, feeling battered by the season, or just looking for some peace, all are welcome to join us for worship.
Next Sunday, December 22, is our annual Lessons and Carols. We will hear lessons and sing carols at both services as we prepare for the arrival of Jesus. If you are able to bake a batch of cookies for coffee hour, that would be very appreciated.
Finally, I wanted to let you know where we are for pledges for 2020. We currently have 64 pledges, totally $201,260. Nine of those pledges are new pledges, and 24 people who pledged last year increased their pledge for 2020. That is incredibly good news, it means that St. Mary’s is well supported by the parishioners in time, talent and treasure. We had seven families who needed to decrease their pledge and there were five families who pledged in 2019 who did not renew their pledge in 2020. This is still really excellent news, and I want to thank the entire Stewardship Team for their hard work. We are now in the process of putting together a budget, but I wanted to thank you all for your support of St. Mary’s and the ministries we do here.
Prayers and blessings,
