From Mother Pippa 8.17.2021

We are halfway through August and Fall is fast approaching. The books are stacking up for the Book Sale and the Fall Fest preparations are humming along. I am so excited for both! While I did get a chance to experience a full Fall Fest, that was nearly two years ago. I have yet to be at St. Mary’s for a Book Sale, and am a little worried if my bookshelves will be able to accommodate the influx. I hope you will sign up to participate, remember the Book Sale is September 15-18 and Fall Fest is September 19.

We have a fun fellowship opportunity – a kayak trip on the Bark River. Carol C. has offered to guide us down the Bark River for a couple hours, and I can’t wait. The trip is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 at 10 a.m. and in case of weather we have an alternate date of Sunday, September 12 at 1 p.m. The plan is to meet where the Bark River crosses Highway P (just south of the Summit Park And Ride) and paddle back to church. We have a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall, and you are welcome to bring friends and family! No previous experience necessary, all are welcome.

Would you like to learn more about Communion? Do you have any questions you’ve always hesitated to ask? We will have a Solemn Communion class for adults on Sunday, October 3 at 11 a.m. For children, we will offer a First Communion class on Sunday, September 26 at 2 p.m. I hope you will join us.

Pre-pandemic we had Healing Service on the first Sunday of the month, and we will be returning to that beginning September 5. Following both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. service you are welcome to come up to the altar rail and share your prayer request. It can be as specific or general as you would like, and I will then pray with you and anoint you with olive oil blessed by the Bishop.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
