From Mother Pippa 5.23.2023

Happy Birthday!!! Pentecost is the start of the church’s ministry in the world. Jesus tells the disciples to wait in Jerusalem, and Pentecost is the result. The Holy Spirit descends and enters each disciple, both a fulfillment of Jesus’ promise of a “comforter” and a future promise that all who are baptized will likewise have this piece of God within.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who stayed after service for Clean Up Sunday last week. We polished all the pews, vacuumed the cushions, cleaned the windows inside and out, and so much more! The church looks incredible because of your care and hard work.

St. Mary’s Day is coming fast. On June 4 we will celebrate Mary’s visitation to Elizabeth. Please bring a dish to share and stay afterwards to play lawn games. It should be a lovely way to start the summer.

We have more Strawberry Fest sign ups. If you are able to bake a rum cake or a pan of shortcake, please sign up in the Parish Hall. We will provide recipes as well as baking pans for the shortcake. There are as many sign up lines as we need cakes, so if you want to bake more than one, please sign your name up on multiple lines. We are also looking for people to sign up to donate baskets for the raffle. You can either donate a whole basket or items for a basket. Please sign up in the Parish Hall.

Wednesday at 7 p.m. Homebrewed Faith will meet at the Delafield Brewhaus to discuss the Holy Spirit. The Episcopal Church tends to spend less time on pneumatology (theology about the Holy Spirit) than our Pentecostal and Evangelical friends, so it will be good to discuss and ponder this third person of the trinity.

Our first Kayak trip is scheduled for June 10 at 10 a.m. We will meet on Sawyer Road and kayak to St. Mary’s. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you are planning to join us.

The office will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
