I was so sorry to miss the Bishop’s Visit last Sunday, but I hope you enjoyed getting to know Bishop Lee. Thank you to Deacon Chuck and everyone for managing in my absence, I haven’t been sick for the last couple years, and I am so grateful I was able to stay home and sleep.
Your Vestry met and decided that as long as the Covid numbers continue to go down, we will return to Coffee Hour on February 27. In fact, February 27 is the last Sunday of Epiphany so we will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with pancakes at Coffee Hour. Join us for pancakes following both services that Sunday. March will return normal Coffee Hour.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far to supply our Afghan family. Jenny and St. Matthew’s have found a place for the family to live and we now know that we have an eight-person family (two parents and six kids aged 2, 3, 4, 5 ½, 9 ½, and 10). We have an updated sign-up sheet posted in the Narthex this week, so please sign up to help supply this family as they move into their new space.
As I mentioned at the Annual Meeting, I have three goals for 2022: welcoming new members; children’s formation; and end of life planning. I am also trying to involve more people at St. Mary’s, so I want to ask, are you interested in thinking and planning around any of these goals? If so, please talk to me or sign up in the Narthex.
I know we have an abundance of sign-up sheets at the moment, and I hope that rather than being overwhelmed by their numbers, you see them as I do, signs that St. Mary’s continues to offer opportunities for learning, growth, visioning, formation and outreach. I am so proud of this community, we have faced a very difficult four years of transition and then pandemic, and you have remained kind and welcoming and faithful followers of Jesus.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
