It’s the end of the Church Year, Christ the King Sunday. We begin the year by looking towards the baby born who was God Incarnate, and we end the year affirming the supremacy of Immanuel, God With Us. As you prepare to enter into Advent, I hope you balance your hope and expectation with the knowledge that Christ is with us always.
I want to let you know that I have been called for jury duty November 27 to December 1. I don’t know if I will actually be needed in Waukesha every day, but if I am, I will not be in the office. You can still reach me by email, and I will also be sure to keep my phone nearby and return messages as I am able.
Saturday, December 2 we are kicking off Advent with family fun arts and crafts! I hope you will join us, either to help lead a craft table or to bring your family and friends to put together some fun decorations. We will be hosting this year and the event starts at 9 a.m., but you are welcome anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
With the start of Advent comes our Advent outreach projects. As is our custom, we will be purchasing gifts for the youth at Lad Lake. Jeff Pease, the Director of Residential Services, has let us know that half of their female youth have been moved to a Milwaukee residence, so we will focus more heavily on the male youth this year. We are also offering ornaments for your Christmas tree to support the Hospitality Center in Racine. Each ornament has a suggested donation listed, but please feel free to send a donation amount of your choice to support their ministry.
Please mark your calendar, we are going Christmas Caroling! On December 3 we will gather at 1:30 p.m. to sing carols at Three Pillars and on December 10 we will gather at 1 p.m. to sing at Lake Country Health Services. No experience is necessary, and Carrie has booklets with the lyrics to many popular songs. Please join us!
Finally, please note the upcoming services and times:
December 17 – Longest Night at 4 p.m.
December 24 – Advent IV at 8 a.m.
December 24 – Christmas Pageant at 10 a.m.
December 24 – Christmas Eve Service at 9 p.m.

Mother Pippa
