Ministries Connected to Sunday Morning Worship

  • Acolyte: Serves with the priest during the celebration of the Eucharist. See Deacon Chuck.
  • Altar Guild: Prepares the church and ensures that everything is ready for Sunday morning worship – a vital, important ‘behind-the-scenes’ ministry! Contact Maggie Mulroy (262-547-1334).
  • Chalice Bearer: Serves the Blood of Christ to parishioners during the service. See Fr. Scott.
  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word: For children ages 4-12. Kids are dismissed from the 10am service after the opening prayer and are back in church in time for the sign of peace. Contact Liz Riedel (ages 8-12) or Elizabeth Hoffman (ages 4-7).
  • Collection Counters: Count and record donations and deposit in the night deposit at the bank. Contact Judy Rahn (262-720-7305).
  • Fellowship Hour Hosts: Fellowship hour hosts help create an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality after each service. For more information about hosting or co-hosting with someone else, contact Maggie Mulroy (262-547-1334).
  • Greeters: Welcome people to church, hand out bulletins, take the collection, bring up the gifts of bread and wine, and help clean up church after the service. See Deacon Chuck.
  • Intercessor: Leads the Prayers of the People. See Deacon Chuck. 
  • Music: Parish Music Director Carrie Arndorfer is always looking to be contacted by people seeking to be involved in music ministry at the parish! If you are interested in singing in choir, being a cantor (leading the psalm on Sunday morning), if you play an instrument, are interested in hand bells, or would like to   participate in the music program in any way, contact Carrie (262-966-2093)!
  • Nursery: Sunday mornings during the 10 am service, parish member Hope Ruedin staffs the nursery. Can you assist her as needed or be a sub? Call 262-443-2969.
  • Reader: Proclaims God’s Word during worship. See Fr. Scott.

Community Life Ministry

This group is working to improve parish communication, encourage parish members to grow in faith and welcome the broader community to our parish. We are continually seeking new and creative ways to wel-come any and all who may be searching for a relationship with Christ and church home. Contact Noelle Bryant-Nanz, Chair (262-965-3332).   • Evangelism: Sharing our stories of faith, witnessing to others, inviting people to church – contact Deacon   Chuck (262-549-4349) or Mary Alice Eschweiler (262-367-6564).
  • Oversight of all in-house parish communications—parish newsletter and special mailings: Interested   in writing? Photography? Editing? See Kathy Mitchell (262-363-8232).

Human Concern and Outreach

This ministry seeks to permeate all aspects of parish life with a greater awareness of the needs of others and the gospel call to remember that we meet Christ when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, and visit those who are sick, in prison, or alienated in any way. This committee also strives for ways to make us aware of the essential character of peace and justice that is central to faith in Jesus Christ. The chairperson is Sally King (262-490-8149). Ministries of Human Concerns/Outreach include but are not limited to the following.

  • Coordination of Advent and Lent outreach Projects
  • Oversight of distribution of Christmas and Easter collections
  • Connections with youth ministry to encourage outreach awareness
  • Seeking to stay connected to the needs of God’s people locally, nationally, and on a global scale
  • Suggestion of disbursement of endowment funds for outreach
  • Connection with St. Marc Parish, Jeannette, Haiti: Contact Mary Alice Eschweiler (262-367-6564).
  • Regular food collections for Kettle Moraine Food Pantry
  • Participation in The Gathering meal program: Coordinated by Jim Lemerand (262-337-1194).

Prayer Ministry

  • Prayer for healing and anointing: Be a prayer support person as we offer anointing for healing on Sunday mornings or at other times. See Fr. Scott or Deacon Chuck.
  • Prayer ministry: We pray for those on our “prayer list,” asking God to watch over, bless, heal and guide all whose names are given to us. Contact Kim Jankowiak (262-574-0292).
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry: Making a beautiful, tangible symbol of our love and care for those who are in   need of healing. Contact Kathy Mitchell (262-363-8232). 

Parish Administration

Your St. Mary's Vestry - This leadership body in the parish is elected and provides vision, decision-making and offers counsel to the Rector. Members include: Sr. Warden, Jr. Warden, Treasurer, Deacon, Priest, five members and an alternate. 
 

Finance and Budget

Helps tend to the financial health of the parish, monitor the budget, advise the Treasurer, and provide over-sight and help ensure transparency and accountability. For more information please contact Carl Eschweiler, Treasurer (262-367-6564)) or Finance Chair, Brian Hoffman (262-754-8781).

Spring Cleaning Sunday

Usually the Sunday after Mother’s Day, this is a time when we clean, plant, organize, and get our “house” and grounds spruced up after the winter months. This is the Responsibility of the Jr. Warden.

Stewardship

All we are, all we have comes to us from God. What we do with our money, our time, our talent and our very lives are all expressions of our faith. This parish ministry committee seeks to assist parishioners in under-standing this fundamental truth of our faith: All we have and are is God’s gift to us. Formation Ministries

  • Adult Formation: Bible Studies, Sunday morning adult education classes, mornings of reflection, retreat days and overnight retreats, classes for those seeking formal membership in the Episcopal Church, and more. Contact Carol McConnell (262-965-4104) or Sally Williams (262-542-3271).
  • Sunday School: Children in Primary Grades. Classes meet at 9:05 am in the Grape Vine (Purple) Room for specific units during the year and to engage in a variety of learning, service, and prayer-related activities. Contact Liz Riedel (262-392-2438).
  • Seminarians: St. Mary’s has been proud to welcome into our faith community seminarians and their families. We help in their formation as future priests by offering them leadership opportunities, feedback, and a place to call “home” while they’re studying at Nashotah House.
  • Spiritual Direction and Pastoral Counseling: Fr. Scott is available and willing to be of assistance to you as a mentor, listening ear and, when needed to make a referral for additional help.
  • Youth Group: For students in grade six and up – we gather twice per month on a Sunday afternoon to learn about our faith, serve others, and grow together in Christ. For more information contact Gwen Ruedin (262-308-3151).

Hospitality, Community-Building Events

  • Pot Luck Meals: Contact Maggie Mulroy (262-547-1334) or Donna Schultz (262-965-3589).
  • Epiphany Meal: Held annually, hosted by Fr. Scott & Gina and Deacon Chuck & Janet Zellermayer.
  • Newer Members Dinner Recognition: Contact Bart and Liz Schroeder (262-965-2745).
  • Dinner with Friend: A social evening with food and fellowship. Contact Shirley Robertson (262-392-9221).
  • Men’s Ministry: The men of the parish meet occasionally for breakfast or other special service our out reach projects. Contact Brother Chuck Runge (262-716-8363).

Annual Events

  • Strawberry Fest: The fourth Sunday in June. This event is the largest single-event fund-raiser for the Diocese of Milwaukee Haiti Project. Contact Elizabeth Hoffman (262-754-8781).
  • Parish Picnic: Sunday closest to August 15, Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
  • Fall Fest: Annual event held on the first Sunday in October to welcome the broader community to St. Mary’s and to raise funds to support the Dousman Volunteer Fire Department. Contact Liz Schroeder (262-965-2745).
  • Silent Auction: This event has been held periodically to raise funds for needed projects.
  • Gigantic Used Book Sale: The first Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday of June. Contact Sandie Perkins (262-470-8750).
