From Mother Pippa 7.6.2021

A reminder that we are volunteering with the Gathering on Saturday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Jim L. to sign up. The Gathering has valiantly been serving meals throughout the pandemic, and continues to be an important resource in Milwaukee. There might still be Covid restrictions in place, so please talk to Jim.

As we are more and more able to gather together, I would love some fellowship ideas for the Parish. We have discussed a Parish kayak trip along the Bark River, a nature walk, a first communion/ solemn communion class and others, but I would love to know your thoughts. What would you like to do, and when works best for you? Is it Saturday mornings, Sundays after church, Wednesday evenings? What can we do to make church more accessible, and help you grow in relationship with God and one another? Such events are often wonderful opportunities to invite people to church as well.

As you may know, Carl E. is retiring as our Treasurer this year, and while I plan to make specific phone calls, I thought I would also cast the net wide in case someone is interested. We have gone through Carl’s job step by step, and found a few items that we are able to transfer to other volunteers. While it is helpful to understand money and spreadsheets, it is much more important to have a love of the church and have a willingness to learn. We have a really good structure in place, and while I don’t want to minimize the job, it is likely not as large as many fear. In particular, Lynn is an amazing bookkeeper, and more and more of the Treasurer job can be done from your own home, assuming a good internet connection.

I have spent the last week in Minnesota with my parents, grandmother, siblings and niece and nephew, which is absolutely delightful. It is so wonderful to be able to be with family once again, and I hope you are likewise able to spend more time with the ones you love and who bring you joy. I hope you are having a safe and wonderful July.

Prayers and blessings,
Mother Pippa
