Blessed Father’s Day to all who are fathers, whether to their own children or to others. I hope you will come to church for a special blessing and our traditional fudge.
This Sunday we will worship with Morning Prayer instead of our regular Eucharist. Before the 1979 Prayer Book, Morning Prayer was the dominant service in the Episcopal Church. Perhaps you remember growing up with Communion once a month, rather than every Sunday. The 1979 BCP put both Baptism and Holy Communion into places of greater prominence. We recognize seven sacraments in the Episcopal Church, but Baptism and Holy Communion are the ones that everyone participates in. The other five are called pastoral sacraments, and are ones you may participate in, but won’t necessarily need. (In case you are curious, they are Confirmation, Reconciliation, Prayers for the Sick, Marriage and Ordination).
I hope you enjoy this beautiful liturgy with its history and rhythm. We will offer communion that has already been blessed following the service if you would like to receive.
Strawberry Fest is just over a week away! I highlighted some of the open spots on the sign-up sheet. If you are able to fill in any of the open spots, I’d greatly appreciate it.
