From Mother Pippa 5.24.2022

I hope you are enjoying life and the sunshine we’ve had this week. The office will be closed this Monday for Memorial Day, but we will be back on Tuesday.

You may have heard that I was working from home this week due to Covid exposure. I tested negative on Monday and as of Tuesday I still feel fine, but plan to test again on Friday (May 27). If I test negative I will be back at church, though will wear a mask until next Tuesday (May 31). I would rather be extra careful than risk anyone’s exposure. If I test positive on Friday, I will not be at church on Sunday. If you are at church today, you will know which way that turned out.

Pentecost is June 5! Some people like to wear red to celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church. If you are planning to read Acts 2 in another language, please let me know. If you need a copy of the text, you can go to biblegateway.com and search for Acts 2:1-21 in the appropriate translation.
Our Hospitality Team is hosting Coffee Hour for Pentecost. Led by Diane Olsen and Kim Smith, this team facilitates many of the fellowship events at St. Mary’s. If you are interested in getting involved, please talk to Diane, Kim or myself.

Our Kayak trip is also approaching quickly. It’s on Saturday, June 11. If you would like to come, please sign up so we can organize kayaks and life jackets. The water is a lot higher this year than it was last year, so we will either paddle around the lake or go down the Bark River towards St. Mary’s. It was a lot of fun last summer and I am really looking forward to going again.

Finally, I hope you have been having fun exploring Right Now Media. I greatly appreciate Philip Yancey and am looking forward to watching his Zondervan series on Vanishing Grace. The first episode talks about the way Christians are perceived by the wider community, and there is a lot more on judgment than on grace. If you find videos that you relate to, please let me know, so I can add it to our St. Mary’s channel.

Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
