I hope you remembered to set your clocks forward an hour, we are back in Daylight Saving Time. Spring is on the way as we enjoy more sunlight in the evenings.
We received a request for help from Singing Rooster. As you may know, we get our coffee from Singing Rooster, a nonprofit in Haiti that works to make a better future for Haiti’s small producers. The co-founder, Christophe, was just diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. As he was not drawing a salary for his work, this is a challenge for Singing Rooster, both spiritually and financially. If you are able to help support Singing Rooster, please go to: https://singingrooster.org/buy/love/
The Vestry met to orient new members and plan some goals for the coming year.
- In an effort to continue to reach out to the community, we plan to have four events open to the public, and to participate in the Derby Days Parade on July 30. We are thinking of having two musical events in the church, a golf outing and pickle ball event.
- Our second focus will be on the land we have north of the parish. We are planning to put in seeds of native plants and also mowing a trail to give us another outdoor space.
- Finally, we plan to reengage with lapsed members. You can really help us with this goal. Look around and see who you miss from the pews and reach out. I will do so as well, and together we can all welcome people to St. Mary’s.
Speaking of reaching out to people, Saturday, March 18 is our final Bingo Night of the program year. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you are planning to join us. Bingo starts at 4 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
Should you prefer an outdoor event, we have a church hike on Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m. The location is TBD, so please sign up in the Parish Hall.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
