Sunday is the end of Daylight Saving! Don’t forget to “fall back” an hour on Saturday, or you will be an hour early to church on Sunday.
I want to thank everyone who pledged for 2024. We received 54 pledges (one more than in 2023). Four pledges were new and fourteen pledges represented an increase from last year. Thank you so much for your support and generosity. We are now starting to plan our budget for 2024. The total support pledged for 2024 is $253,146, which is a bit less than last year’s $270,981. Should you have the ability to add to your 2024 pledge, I would ask that you prayerfully consider doing so. We will update the parish after we finalize a budget draft ahead of the Annual Meeting in January.
Last Saturday we competed in Dousman’s Chili Competition. Competition was fierce and St. Mary’s came in second, one behind the winner. I want to thank Craig for his amazing chili, and Kim for her incredible work. Thanks also to Chuck, Janet, and Katie for helping to distribute the chili. Finally, I want to thank all of you who came out and voted – it was a wonderful event.
Saturday we also sold over 100 pies to raise funds for the chapel roof. Thanks to the baking team: Maggie, Diane, Jane, Kim and Craig. Additional thanks to Carol who made sure all the pies were sold. We are still finalizing the numbers, but it was a very successful fundraiser, thank you!
Our next Life Planning Talk is on Monday, November 13 at 6 p.m. in the Chapel. Karen Arenz will be talking about Required Minimum Distributions and Qualified Charitable Distributions. The laws of finance and taxes can be complex, and hopefully Karen will be able to shed some light on the subject.
We are also having a second Will and Probate talk on Sunday, November 12 at 9 a.m. in the Library. I hope you will join us!
Prayers and Blessings,
Mother Pippa
