Happy Second Sunday of Christmas, Ninth Day of Christmas and New Year! I hope you had a lovely time with family and friends in all these lovely celebrations. I enjoyed spending time in Minnesota with parents, sisters, in-laws and my niece and nephew.
Our Wednesday morning Adult Education resumes on Wednesday, and we will continue to read The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. Lewis imagines what heaven and hell might be like, as well as what sins and frailties might hold us back. The gift that Lewis offers is that while I can recognize the sins of the characters, I see them clearly in my own life, and am inspired to love God more fully and trust more deeply. I hope you will join us.
This Thursday at 7 p.m. is our Epiphany Evensong. Join us as we celebrate the revelation of Jesus as king of all the earth as the magi gift him with gold, frankincense and myrrh. The season after Epiphany will stretch all the way to the end of February, and each week we hear of other signs and revelations of Jesus’ identity and mission. Epiphany, however, is where it all begins.
Our monthly movie discussion kicks off on January 23 at noon. We will be watching Frozen and discussing the themes of love, trust, and secrets. I hope you will join us.
Should you prefer an outdoor fellowship opportunity, we have snow shoeing! Weather permitting, we will go snow shoeing on the Ice Age Trail January 15 at 1 p.m. You don’t need to have your own snow shoes, but please sign up to let us know you are coming.
Finally, mark your calendars. Our Annual Meeting is on January 30 at 10:30 a.m. We will have one service at 9 a.m., followed by a potluck. Please bring a dish to share and join us as we look back over 2021 and towards 2022.
Prayers and blessings,
Mother Pippa
