MESSAGE FROM OUR THE SR. WARDEN:

 This week at St. Mary's Vestry Highlights...

The Vestry has been meeting diligently as we say goodbye to Fr. Scott on June 10th and continue on with the ongoing transition to find a new Rector for St. Mary's.  The following meetings are scheduled as part of that process:

  • Thursday, June 14th - Vestry Meeting with Peggy Bean, Diocesan Canon for Congregations
  • Wednesday, June 27th - Monthly Vestry Meeting
  • Thursday, June 28th - Vestry Meeting with Long-Term Supply Clergy Candidates

   SPRING CLEANING SUNDAY THANK YOUThank you to Junior Warden Br. Chuck Runge for organizing our Annual Spring Cleaning Sunday last week and a big thank you to the many parishioners (you know who you are!) who worked on a variety of spring cleaning projects including inside cleaning, getting rid of junk, burning debris, dusting, washing windows, and cleaning in the kitchen.  Your help was greatly appreciated!  There is still some outside cleaning, weeding, trimming, and mulching that needs to be done, contact Br. Chuck if you are available at brotherchuckosf@gmail.com.

 

YOUTH MISSION TRIP STOCK SALE UPDATE:  A big thank you to everyone who purchased stock for the Youth Group’s Summer Mission Trip to the Twin Cities in Minnesota on July 29th to  August 3rd.  The stock sale raised $1,917.50 toward the trip.  The youth will hold an additional “Stock Sale” on Sunday, June 3rd for anyone who missed the first sale and to raise additional funds.

 

GATHERING MEAL THANK YOU:  Thank you to Chairperson Jim Lemerand and everyone who helped with St. Mary’s Gathering Ministry meal-site event on Saturday, May 26th in Milwaukee.  The Gathering Ministry depends on the commitment of their volunteers like us.  Thank you again for  volunteering.  Please know your work is appreciated!

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING SPRING GRADUATES:  Congratulations to the following high school graduates:  Hope, Stephanie and Anya. Congratulations to the following college graduates:  Natalie, Emily, McKayla (December ‘18), Noel and Emma.  Fr. Scott will be calling up the graduates during the blessing time for the next three weeks.

 

 CLW & FAMILY SUNDAY SCHOOL THANK YOU:  Thank you to the staff who spent time  weekly with the children of St. Mary’s to expose them to God’s word.  A special thank you to the CLW staff: Mary Alice Eschweiler, Alison & Jason Hedrick, Holly Melloch, Tammy Prather, Liz Riedel, Br. Chuck Runge and Megan Stangler. Also, a special thank you to our Family Sunday School Coordinator:  Sarah Beneker.  We appreciate everything that you do!

 

SAFEGUARDING GOD’S PEOPLE TRAINING:  Safeguarding God's Children (SGC) training [class instructed by on-site trainer] will be offered on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 29th, 6:00 to 9:00 pm at St. Bartholomew's in Pewaukee.
  • Saturday, June 2, 8:00 am to 12:00 noon at Christ Church, Delavan.

Anyone in the parish working with children is required to take this class and re-certify every five years. ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE:  - St. Mary's Annual Used Book Sale needs your assistance with set-up on Sunday, June 3rd after the 10:00 am mass as well as on Monday and Tuesday, June 4th and 5th. The sale itself takes place on:

  •  Wednesday, June 6th from Noon to 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, June 7thfrom 8:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Friday, June 8th from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, June 9th from 8:00 am to Noon ($3/bag sale Saturday morning

Your help is needed with set-up, running the sale, and clean-up. For more information, contact Sandie Perkins at 262-470-8750 or email her at slperkins1063@hotmail.com.  Sign-up sheets are in the parish hall.

How can you be involved?  Check out the table in the Church Narthex:

  1. Place personal letters/well wish cards (no $ here please) in the St. Mary’s Church card box.
  2. Monetary contributions for Fr. Scott’s gifts should go in the gold box. This will be available during Sunday services. When the box is not available, monetary gifts can be brought to the parish office, where Lynn Kallas, Parish          Administrator, will be happy to take them.
  3. RSVP by June 4th if joining us for lunch—complete the back of your invitation and place it in the treasure chest.
  4. Sign-up to help however you can—several sign-up sheets can be found in the Church Narthex.
  5. Share your special moments with Fr. Scott for the Memory Book, please include a photo too if you have one! Share electronically or drop off in the parish office. Submit no later than June 5th.

 LAD LAKE KETTLE CLASSIC - Proceeds to benefit the more than 1,400 vulnerable youth at Lad Lake. Two parishioners have already signed up for the 15 mile bike ride.  If you’d like to join them as part of Team St. Mary’s - or your kids would, and you don’t have the legs - contact Bob Perkins at 262-490-0715.

2018 GATHERING GOLF CLASSIC - Proceeds from the 2018 Gathering Golf Classic will benefit the Gathering’s Community Meal Programs, preparing and serving 80-90,000 meals annually to Milwaukee’s hungry and homeless since 1982.

Date:  Monday, June 18   Times:  12 pm lunch; 1 pm shotgun start/scramble; 5:30 pm Dinner & Raffle

Cost:  $145 per golfer ($60 tax deductible) includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, dinner, drink ticket

STRAWBERRY FEST IS SUNDAY, JUNE 24TH FROM 11:00 AM TO 3:00 PM AND WE NEED YOU!!! 

St. Mary's Strawberry Fest event is the diocese’s largest fundraiser for the Haiti Project.  We are looking for everyone to spare an hour or two over the entire weekend.  Many hands will make light work.  We are also looking for some parish  members to help hull and cut strawberries ahead of time and then freeze the strawberries.  If you do not have freezer space, no problem, we can find a place for them.  We will be in contact with you when the strawberries are available for pick-up at St. Mary’s.  We will be having an on-line sign up this year as well as the paper sign up, a link has been sent to every parish member already for the on-line sign up.

 GOLF OUTING TO BENEFIT FAMILY PROMISE OF WAUKESHA COUNTY:  The Family Promise of Waukesha County will be held a golf outing on Saturday, July 14th at Paganica Golf Course in Oconomowoc, with a shotgun start at 11:00 am.  This is a four-person scramble that provides lots of goofy golf fun for everyone.  Families are welcome to play together. The cost is $85.00 per person/$340 per foursome which includes: 18holes, powercart, hole event, prizes, raffles and dinner.
